Speaking in English is a reluctant task for most of us.This is mainly because of the gap between our words, that is,our poor vocabulary. A strong vocabulary base is the first step required to study English.
Majority of us may have tried to study ten new words per day. It is really a piffle experiment in my experience, because I didn't remember those words after two days.
We can use some funny ways to increase our vocabulary. Otherwise we can make our method of studying new words,a funny game.
Here are some funny ways to strengthen our vocabulary.
#1. Change the name
In this method we are using English counterparts instead of names in our mother tongue. Use these English words in your talks.
For instance,there is a Malayalam movie - Lelam, which means auction.It is one of my favorite movies and I am using the term auction instead of Lelam.This is a funny way when we use these words while speaking with friends and family. It is really interesting and it helps to remember new words. You can 'rename' people, movies, books, dishes etc.😃
#2. Synonyms
Studying synonyms to increase vocabulary is an already existing strategy,but we should add some fun in it.Studying synonyms for randomly selected words is boring.
Take sentences which you are frequently using, especially humorous ones. Replace words in these sentences with their synonyms. You can share these sentences with your friends.
Examples:-
I LOVE YOU - I AFFECTION YOU
Affection is synonymous for love.
I HATE YOU - I INDIGNATION YOU
Indignation is synonymous for hate.
Though these are ridiculous sentences, they will increase our vocabulary permanently.
